Personal reading respons to “The Reluctant Fundamentalist”

The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a book about the main character’s (Changez) life experiences.  Changes met this American in an outdoor cafe in Lahore, Pakistan, and invites him to hear his story about his former life in America.  The story untill now has been about his time in Princeton University,  his meeting with Erica in Greece, and about his first meeting with Erica’s parents. We also have heard the story about when Changez went to Manila, Philippines, on a business trip.

My first impression with this book was that I find it confusing to understand that he’s almost the only one speaking. Changez is also kind of speaking on behalf of the American, which made it a bit confusing to keep up. However, i find this book really interesting. , and it’s kind of interesting, aswell as confusing, to read a book like this. I think it’s pretty interesting that we get to know about so many different stories about Changez, but also the impressions from the other characters, like Jim, Erica and her parents, and also a bit from the American, make the book interesting.
